Jun Kwang Woo

Chair Professor at Yonsei University / Former Chairman of National Pension Service of South Korea / Formar Chairman of Financial Services Commission

    Dr. Jun has served until 2013 as Chairman & CEO of the National Pension Service (NPS), one of the largest funds in the world with US$500 billion in assets, and led the NPS to become a global force during his tenure. In 2008-2009, he served as founding Chairman of the Financial Services Commission, Korea’s top financial authority, and played a key role in successfully coping with the global financial crisis. He is currently Distinguished Professor at Yonsei University. His previous positions include: Korea’s Ambassador for International Finance; Chairman of the Board at POSCO; Chairman of Deloitte Korea; Vice Chairman of Woori Financial Group; and President of Korea Center for International Finance, after a long career at the World Bank.

    Dr. Jun is an author of numerous articles and books, including Beyond the Crisis (2010). He has been featured in interviews or columns appearing in The Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, among others. He received his undergraduate degree from Seoul National University, graduate degrees from Indiana University, and the AMP from the Wharton School. He is the world’s first recipient of Indiana University’s Distinguished International Alumni Award.
