Cary Woods

Chairman of Independent Pictures

    Cary Woods is an American film producer from New York City, and the founder of Independent Pictures. In addition to producing worldwide blockbusters SCREAM and GODZILLA, Woods also produced the directorial debuts (or breakthrough features) of many notable filmmakers, including: Jon Favreau, James Mangold, Alexander Payne, Larry Clark, Doug Liman, Harmony Korine, and M. Night Shyamalan.

    Prior to founding Independent Pictures, Woods was an executive at Sony Pictures, a top producer at Miramax, and a prominent talent agent at the William Morris Agency, discovering and representing such talents as Uma Thurman, Gus Van Sant, and Matt Dillon.

    Cary graduated from the Gould School of Law at the University of Southern California in 1982.
